The Lavender Hen is a small urban homestead in rural Oakland County, Michigan. I garden and also have a small flock of hens. I make a variety of hand-made lavender, vintage and needle felt gifts. I make everything here at The Lavender Hen with a goal of being eco-friendly and I try to be as up front as possible about what goes into my products.
Our Lavender is grown and harvested right here at The Lavender Hen. All the Lavender products that I offer come from these home-raised Lavender and are hand-made by myself and offered to the public.
The wool that is used in my needle felt Sheep Sachets ALL comes from breeders right here in the USA! I use mostly sheep wool, but occasionally Angora Rabbit is used.
The Lavender Hen name came to mind after we purchased our Coronation Sussex hens Lillian (Lilly) and Isabelle (Belle). Coronation Sussex are known for their white body color and beautiful lavender colored hackles and tail feathers. (Click here for more information on this beautiful breed). So along with our home grown lavender the name was very fitting!
